Return with us now to those groovy days of yesterday, when bellbottoms ruled and madness was available on a budget. A very low budget. The Sea Creature Lounge Drive-In Creature Double Feature would like to introduce our viewers to the bone-chilling terror of being a few sandwiches short of a picnic. This week's theme is "Crazy, Man!" The concession stand will be serving nuts. You can take that either way.

As Autumn encroaches and the leaves begin to turn, we are reminded that Summer is eternal in the Pocket Universe. Though the world outside grows cold and dark, every day at the Sea Creature Lounge Drive-In Creature Double Feature sees fish leaping merrily in the lagoon and gulls wheeling happily in the blue skies. And yet, such are the twisted minds that create B-Movies that even these comforts can be turned into something evil and menacing. Thus, our theme this week is "Neither Fish Nor Fowl," or "These Titles Aren't The Least Bit Frightening, Guys." The concession stand will serving surf and turf. Grab a lot of extra ketchup packets.

I thought for a moment that I'd seen The Island of the Fishermen, but then I noticed Barbara Bach and am pretty sure I'd remember her. So I haven't seen either of these- though the first one looks pretty good.

In our studies of classic B-Movies throughout history, one thing we quickly discover is that the vast majority of these films include some sort of creeping. Monsters creep threateningly, aliens creep ominously, villains creep mysteriously, and heroes creep warily. Everybody creeps. Thus, the Sea Creature Lounge Drive-In Creature Double Feature will tonight present a loving tribute to creeping. Our theme is "Creep The Night Away." The concession stand will be serving creep suzette.

The days are growing longer and the nights are creeping over us earlier, signalling the approach of Halloween. So let's break out some Hammer! For this evening, let's take a look at a couple of lesser-known releases, whose rather uninteresting names probably did not help fill those theater seats. Our theme is "One-Word Titles Do Not Sell And Articles Don't Count." Really, they should have gone with The Witches Must Be Destroyed and The Reptile of the Baskervilles or something. Anyway, the Concession Stand will be serving "candy" and "meat" and "grease."

Another pair I haven't seen though The Reptile does look familiar. Perhaps I saw it ages ago. I should look it up in my Horror film handbook.

I'm kinda thinking that The Reptile was on TCM within the last couple of years, but I'm not sure. I know I've never seen The Witches.

RJDiogenes wrote:A Vourdalak is a Russian kind of Vampire. When I was about twelve, I got an anthology of Vampire stories for Christmas or something, and there was an old Russian Vourdalak story that scared the hell out of me. I loved the word, though, and always wanted to use it in a story (I haven't yet). It's not a word you see used very often.

I knew I had posted here about Vourdalaks, but I'm amazed that it was more than three years ago. I came across s Wiki page on that story, as well as the story itself, since it's in the public domain. Still creepy after all these years, especially the part with the dead babies. And I was right on the money with the publication year of that anthology-- the Wiki page puts it in 1973, which was the year I turned twelve.

And now Halloween Week is upon us. In a sense, every day is Halloween in the pocket universe, but we here at the Sea Creature Lounge Drive-In Creature Double Feature, are the biggest Halloweenies who ever lived. Therefore, we've tricked out some special treats for the occasion. First a double feature of groovy movies optimized for All Hallow's Eve, and then a special showing of the Halloween-centric pilot episode of the legendary Tales From The Darkside. Our theme this week is "Something Wicked Cool This Way Comes." The concession stand will be handing out all kinds of stuff designed to give you a stomach ache for a week.

I haven't seen Something Wicked This Way Comes in years. I have the novel which Ray Bradbury signed for me the first time he came to town. I haven't seen Monster House yet. I'm not sure about Tales from the Darkside. If I have seen it it's been too long ago to remember.

I loved Tales From The Darkside (and the sequel series Monsters). I really need to get the DVDs at some point. This pilot episode was aired on Halloween and did well enough to lead to the series (which was syndicated). It was the very early 80s, before I even moved into my first apartment.

I can't recommend Monster House highly enough. It's like a Ray Bradbury story acted out by animated Norman Rockwell figures. It's one of my favorite CGI movies, up there with The Incredibles and Megamind.

Wonder Woman? Batman? Superman? Hah! We here at the Sea Creature Lounge Drive-In Creature Double Feature know all about superheroes-- the real famous ones that you've never heard of. Our theme this week is "Unsung Superheroes." The concession stand will be serving Wheaties! With vitamins for dessert!

Ok, as bad as these are I'd still watch them.

Of course I have to wonder when Argoman is vibrating his hand saying "Kill each other! Kill each other!", is he talking to the villains or the audience?

I take it you haven't seen "Dr. Vampire Website Admin".

It's a personal favorite. So sentimental, so true-to-life.

In the pocket universe, as in the outside world, today is Veteran's Day, and so we at the Sea Creature Lounge Drive-In Creature Double Feature will now, in our own humble way, honor those who fight so that the rest of us wimps can live in comfort. Our theme this week is "You Watch The Skies, I'll Be In The Bunker." The concession stand will be serving c-rations, k-rations, and X-Rations From Beyond The Stars.

You just can't beat the original War of the Worlds. It's a movie that still hold up to this day. Needless to say I have it on DVD. War of the Planets sounds and looks familiar but I can't remember if I've seen it or not.

Yeah, War of the Worlds is one of the all-time Sci-Fi classics, even if it is in the wrong time period. I'm pretty sure I have the DVD, too. It was on Channel 56 frequently back in the day, and I would watch it every time.

Time keeps on slippin' slippin' slippin' into the future. And sometimes it slips a little faster than other times, like when you travel through space warps or build a time machine. We here at the Sea Creature Lounge Drive-In Creature Double Feature have looked into the future on occasion and it looks different every time. Maybe we should see a shrink about our quantum uncertainties. Anyway, our theme this week is "Tomorrow Is Another Day And There Will Be Mutants." The concession stand will be serving some kind of GMO or other-- eat it before it eats you.
